Refusing to hide my light under a basket
A lot of businesses try to cater to everyone by keeping their messaging secular—but the Bible says that’s not possible. You’re either for God or against Him. If we don’t put God first and recognize His sovereignty, we begin to rely on our own understanding—and that leads to confusion, worry, and misplaced priorities. Our hearts grow restless when they’re not anchored in the One who made them.
This isn’t just true for me—it’s true for all of us. Whether you're running a business, raising children, pursuing a calling, or simply trying to live with purpose—God must come first. Without Him as your foundation, everything else will shift and crumble with time.
You are the light of the world. A city set
on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it
under a basket. Instead, they put it on a
stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house.
In the same way, let your light shine
before others, so that they may see your
good works and give glory to your Father
in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
The Temptation to Downplay My Faith
Before reopening Eidel’s Ideas, I was tempted to downplay my faith. I thought maybe I should avoid using Christian terms or phrases—just quietly include a gospel tract in orders and hope that would make everyone like my shop.
But that approach felt deceptive, as if hiding the evangelistic part of who I am could somehow help me win customers… or souls.
Though the thought was short-lived and mostly in my own head, the Lord reminded me that if He placed the vision for Eidel’s Ideas on my heart, then it must point back to Him. Everything I do—whether in my shop or in life—ought to be dedicated to the Lord.
Maybe you've felt that same pull—to keep your faith quiet in certain spaces so you won’t offend, or so you can fit in. But dear reader, if God has given you a platform, a business, a mission, or even just a conversation today—it’s worth asking, “Does this point back to Him?”
The Source of Success
Any success or blessing will ultimately come from Him. Without God, I am nothing. Any accomplishment or good deed apart from Him is meaningless.
God makes all things possible. Because of the finished work of Jesus, I have no need to worry. My job is to commit everything to the Lord and trust Him completely.
No matter what He has in store for Eidel’s Ideas, because of Jesus, I know a greater treasure is already mine. I’m not doing this to get rich—I haven’t even turned a profit yet. It’s about creating something for more than just myself, and sharing it with others in a way that glorifies Him.
If you’ve ever found yourself measuring your worth by your income, your followers, or your output, let this be a gentle reminder: our value isn’t in the numbers—it’s in our obedience, reliance and complete trust and surrender. The true reward is already secured through Christ.
When I start to sink
But I’ll be honest—sometimes I forget this. I start to worry. I wonder if I’m doing enough, if I’m reaching the right people, or if I’m on the right path.
That’s why the verse from Proverbs 3:5–6 is so important to me. It’s one I return to often. It's my shop's anchor verse, serving not only to anchor me but also as a life preserver. It reminds me that my understanding is limited—but God’s isn’t.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make straight your paths.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6
Whether you're running a shop, starting a ministry, homeschooling your children, or simply navigating your next steps—this verse is for you, too. God is faithful to guide us when we trust Him fully. He doesn’t ask for perfection—just surrender.
What It Means to Acknowledge Him
The word “acknowledge” here is translated from the Hebrew word yada—which means to know deeply, personally, and relationally.
It’s not just a polite nod to God. It’s not something we do in a blog post or on social media alone. It’s about truly submitting every part of life to Him.
To acknowledge Him is to seek Him, walk with Him, trust Him, and honor Him in everything—especially the things no one else sees.
If you’ve been treating your work, your dreams, or your day-to-day life as “yours,” I invite you to consider what it would mean to truly know God in all your ways. He sees it all—and He cares about it all.
Letting the light shine
This verse is an essential guidepost whenever I start to drift or feel overwhelmed. It helps me return my focus to where it belongs—on the Lord.
I want Eidel’s Ideas to reflect that trust. Not just in what I say, but in how I manage the shop—knowing He is truly in control and will work all things for good, even when I can’t see the bigger picture.
Having a business built on faith is about much more than slapping a Bible verse on everything; it’s about creating thoughtful, beautiful products with the understanding that God is God, and any success belongs to Him. It's about creating pieces with purpose, with prayer, and with the firm belief that every good thing comes from the Lord. This shop is my offering, and He gets the credit.
Every product, every post, every decision—I pray that it all acknowledges Him.
And my prayer is that whatever you're building—be it a business, a home, a dream, or a daily routine—you’ll take time to surrender it fully to Him too. Because when we acknowledge Him in all our ways, He promises to direct our paths. And there’s no safer, sweeter place to be than walking in step with the Lord.
